Reminds me of a Chinese fairy tale, specifically, about heavenly maidens who came to Earth to bathe. One man, spying on the maidens, steals a feathered coat (which lets the maidens fly), trapping one of the maidens on Earth, and forces her to marry him.

This tale is the inspiration of 'Ceres, Celestial Legend' ([link]).
